Summary

In 1939, Bluey fled hard times in England, but his new life in the wild's of Australia will require more than just strength and courage. When he signs on to be a suger cane cutter, he discovers that being accepted into a hard-drinking community is tougher than the dangerous work he is doing. As the world develops a hunger for the sweet product, Bluey's new found prosperity will be challenged by war, violent local prejudices, and one final massive disaster that will threaten the community's only livelihood
