Summary
Pushpa is discarded by her husband and forced out of her village home. She shelters in a Calcutta "house of ill-repute" where she invites the tender attentions of a young man-about-town. She becomes a surrogate mother to a young boy who, coincidentally, is from her home village. The bonds of affection that develop between these three mature into an abiding and enduring "immortal love"
