Summary

Set in the 1960s, against the backdrop of civil rights movement, tells the story of a forty-year-old divorcée, who, following the death of her father, returns to her Southern family home and discovers that she is broke and the only prospect of financial security for her is finding a wealthy husband, so she starts lobbying for the inclusion of women in the 1964 Civil Rights Act
