Summary
A multi-year research and development effort was undertaken by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in evaluating trade-offs between various configurations of Soldiers and equipment in the command and control (C2) environment. The work consisted of a series of phases (e.g., task-network design, performance data collection, model programming, etc.), which resulted in a number of computer-based C2 models. Two of the models built were identified for use in evaluating the impact of Soldiers conducting their C2 functions in a moving vehicle. This report documents the task analysis that was completed in the creation of those models and simulations. It includes all the assumptions, input to the models, and output capabilities. The model runs can be used for comparative what if analyses to determine the impact of Soldiers conducting their C2 functions in a moving vehicle. While these models do not predict exact results, the analyses of the different movement profiles can be compared to assess the effect of C2 in a moving vehicle. The objective of this report, in particular, is to describe the simulations themselves and to document their development. No model runs or data analysis are provided in this report
