Summary
Elizabeth Langdon was the owner of a 300 acre farm at Thompson (vicinity west of Modern Times, later named Brentwood, Islip Township, N.Y.), a pioneer of farming the former scrub oak (pine barrens) land. She advised less fortunate women in New York City to consider pursuing the agricultural life on these "cheap" lands, and expressed her desire to start an agricultural school for women on her farm
